Street Photography Workshop in Portland with Eric Kim

Street Photography Workshop in Portland with Eric Kim

I have been wanting to visit Portland and when I heard that Eric had a street photography workshop in Portland, I knew I had to go!

If you ever been to my gallery on Smugmug, you probably could tell that I don't usually approach strangers on the street for photos. I had some fear and I wasn't sure how people would react if I asked to take their pictures.

While I was at the workshop, I was shooting on the street for a couple of days. I learned to interact with people, listened to their stories and captured the unique characteristics of them! Throughout my shooting, I only got one NO when I asked for their permission and I bet he didn't live in Portland! lol.  Portland people, you guys are so kind, awesome and warm! I truly enjoyed my time there and can't wait to return again!

Aside of shooting on the street, we also learned to edit our pictures. These 3 photos I am sharing were the final photos I had at the end of the workshop. Eric helped to select them and I like how they came together as a nice set of a mini series.

If you want to learn more about street photography, check out Eric Kim's website! It is super informative and it has a lot of interesting content for you to read!
