Sailing on a 16-century ship in Delaware

After moving to Pennsylvania, I have been busy settling down and haven't been able to travel much. After months of adapting and adjusting to the area, I am ready to explore further and do more other than keeping things normal at home.

Last Friday, I decided to wake up early to participate in an exciting tour. It was getting on to the Tall Ship of Delaware at New Castle Pier, sailing on the Delaware River for 2.5 hours. The tour was organized by Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, located in Wilmington by the Christina River. Their Copeland Maritime Center and Museum are also on-site if you want to learn more about the history of how Swedes and Finns settled in Delaware.

It was a gorgeous day on the Delaware River on a beautiful 16-century replica ship. I got to learn a little about how they operate the ship and its stories. The crew members were friendly and provided great conversations to keep us entertained.

Traveling has been challenging with the regulation and limitations, but if you are in the area of Wilmington, I highly recommend you book a trip with the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation! It was a great experience, and I got to enjoy the breeze on the river and the mild summer sun in Delaware.
