Visiting Mt. Cuba Center In Fall

Mt. Cuba Center, located near Wilmington, is a non-profit botanical garden in Hockessin, Delaware, founded by the Copeland family. In the 60s' Mrs. Copeland was passionate about ecological conservation and hired Dr. Richard Lighty in 1983 to oversee the garden. The garden focuses on the native plants and their impact on our environment. Mrs. Copeland was particularly interested in studying wildflowers and developed woodland gardens that flourish with native plants and flowers.

During my visit to the Mt. Cuba Center, although I couldn't recognize the over 1000 species of native plants, I truly enjoyed seeing the view of nature it presented. The gardens were well-planned so that the cohabitated plants and trees could grow into their natural form. It was an eye-opening experience to visit the center in the Fall, seeing the spectacular changes in nature with fall leaves showing various colors.
